Privacy Policy for Shared Location Calendar
Last updated: May 6, 2026
1. Overview
Shared Location Calendar is a Google Calendar add-on that helps you share
your general location and availability with friends without revealing any
private event details.
2. Data We Access
This add-on accesses your Google Calendar data solely to provide its core
functionality. Specifically, it reads:
- Event start and end times (to generate busy blocks)
- Event location fields (to determine your city and country)
- Calendar names and IDs (to let you choose which calendars to include)
3. Data We Do NOT Access or Share
We never access, store, or share:
- Event titles or names
- Event descriptions or notes
- Attendee names or email addresses
- Any other event details beyond time and location fields
4. How Your Data Is Used
Event location strings are processed locally within your Google account to
determine your approximate city and country. This information is used only
to populate all-day location labels in your shared calendar.
Busy block times are written to a separate calendar you control. These
events contain only the word "Busy" — no other information from your
original events is copied.
5. Data Storage
All preferences and settings (such as your selected calendars, location
overrides, and display name) are stored in Google Apps Script User
Properties, which are private to your Google account. No data is stored
on external servers.
6. Third-Party Services
If a Google Maps API key is configured, event location strings may be sent
to the Google Maps Geocoding API to resolve city and country names. This
is governed by Google's own Privacy Policy at
https://policies.google.com/privacy. No other third-party services receive
any of your data.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties.
8. Your Shared Calendar
The calendar created by this add-on ("Your Name's Location and
Availability") is shared publicly at your direction. You control who
receives the link. You can make the calendar private or delete it at any
time from Google Calendar settings.
9. Deleting Your Data
You can delete all data stored by this add-on at any time by running the
resetAllData function from the Apps Script editor. You can also delete the
shared calendar directly from Google Calendar.
10. Children's Privacy
This add-on is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly
collect data from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy occasionally. The "Last updated" date at the top
of this page will reflect any changes.
